Community Spotlight: Marisol Johnson, State Farm

1/30/2022 (Permalink)

Insurance coverage is a crucial part of the restoration business. If your home or business suffers damage due to water, fire, mold, hazardous waste, graffiti and more, your insurance coverage could be the difference between peace of mind and tremendous unexpected cost.

We’re lucky to have many hard-working, qualified insurance agencies in our Reisterstown-area community and today we’re turning the spotlight on Marisol Johnson of State Farm.

Read on to find out more about Marisol, her agency, and her involvement in our local community.

How long have you been in business? 14 years

Number of employees? 5

What are your business's values?  We do things differently here…we want to be the first and best choice to all of our neighbors when they think of insurance.  We also work hard to be a general recourse and one stop shop for the whole community.

Favorite upcoming program/event/promotion?  100 for Good…where anyone can record a Good Act into the State Farm App. It’s all about paying it forward.

Best part about the local community?  Living, working and playing in my community allows me to have certain inside knowledge and comfort with the my neighbors that a 1-800, a Gecko or an Elephant can never have.

Favorite part about working here?  My team!  I love my staff and employees…my team!

What motivates you?  Myself. Doing better for me…so I can do better for those around me.

Name three adjectives to describe yourself?  Helpful, kind and fiery

How are you involved in the community? I’m very involved. I sit on several Boards, I’m active in the political landscape, I employ and train area HS and College Students, I volunteer with local organizations and I support local businesses.

Any other information you'd like to share? We are always looking to expand.  With new clients, new partners and new Team Members.  Feel free to call me about all or one of those things!

5 Ways to Cope With Disaster

4/1/2020 (Permalink)

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be stressful for people. It is natural to feel stress, anxiety, grief, and worry during and after a disaster.

The CDC recommends the following steps to cope with a disaster:

• Take care of your body: Try to eat healthy well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

• Connect with others: Share your concerns and how you are feeling with a friend or family member. Maintain healthy relationships, and build a strong support system.

• Stay informed: When you feel that you are missing information, you may become more stressed or nervous. Watch, listen to, or read the news for updates from officials. Be aware that there may be rumors during a crisis, especially on social media. Always check your sources and turn to reliable sources of information like your local government authorities.

• Take breaks: Make time to unwind and remind yourself that strong feelings will fade. Try taking in deep breaths. Try to do activities you usually enjoy.

• Avoid too much exposure to news: Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories. It can be upsetting to hear about the crisis and see images repeatedly. Try to do enjoyable activities and return to normal life as much as possible and check for updates between breaks.

If distress impacts activities of your daily life for several days or weeks, talk to someone in your local Reisterstown community or online such as a clergy member, counselor, or doctor, or contact the SAMHSA helpline at 1-800-985-5990.
